“Obstacles can’t stop you. Problems can’t stop you. Most of all, other people can’t stop you. Only you can stop you.” J. Gitomer
J.K Rowling is the first author to become a billionaire following the enormous success of her books about the child wizard, Harry Potter. Before she published the series of novels she was broke after being fired from her secretarial job for ‘daydreaming’. She was also severely depressed, divorced and trying to raise a child on her own whilst attempting to write her first Harry Potter novel. Rowling went from depending on welfare to survive to being one of the richest writers in the world in a span of only five years. She did this through her passion, hard work, perseverance, focus, determination and strong belief that she had a great product that she had to share with the world. She achieved this despite having her first Harry Potter book rejected by twelve different publishers.
Madonna started her musical career after being sacked from Dunkin’ Donuts for squirting sauce at customers. Her first band, The Breakfast Club, was dropped by her record label so she decided to go solo. The rest, as you know, is history.
Being rejected and facing setbacks is all part of the dream chasing process. The one thing you have to learn to master is dealing with this rejection and learning from it. Believe it or not, being rejected can often be the best thing that can happen to you in life if you can turn it to your advantage.
